  Original First Pressing Blue Note Label with 47 WEST 63rd Address

This auction is for an original, FIRST pressing, blue and white WEST 63rd NYC label address Blue Note Records release of "Vol. 2" by Sonny Rollins:  BLP-1558, mono, "RVG" written on trail-off, "EAR" symbol, NO registry mark, and a deep groove around label.  "BLUE NOTE RECORDS" appears on the cover, NOT the later pressing "Blue Note, Inc."  And the cover is made of the original "heavier" cardboard.  Released in 1957 featuring:  Sonny Rollins (tenor),  Jay Jay Johnson (trombone), Art Blakey (drums),  Horace Silver or Thelonious Monk (piano), and Paul Chambers (bass).

The LP is not play graded but visually I would rate it a VG++ (M-) based on Goldmine standards: Disc has retained most of its original luster and looks beautiful.  There are no visible scratches or marks except some minimal, very light signs of sliding in and out of the inner sleeve.  Minimal spindle wear looks like the LP has had light play.  The original jacket looks beautiful and has fully intact glossy laminate front with some very light wear with no marks, creases or writing.   NO ring wear.  The seams are intact and strong with hardly a sign of wear or splitting.  The corners are also strong with barely any wear.  Back cover is also beautiful with no marks, writing, or dings.  Just some very light toning of white areas.  This LP is wonderful for an original 50's Blue Note pressing, and would be a welcome addition to a quality collection.  Record ships with non-original, vinyl-lined  inner sleeve. No reserve!
