This rare US 1958-1959 press is on the 47 West 63rd, Deep Groove, blue and white Blue Note label. It has all the essential elements of the earliest presses - the ear and RVG etched in the dead wax, no later r copyright logo and is complete with the original heavy card sleeve. Released in 1957, the album also features Jay Jay Johnson, Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, Paul Chambers and Art Blakey.
The vinyl is in Very Good condition. It has a sensational high gloss and is pressed on wonderful heavy 1950's vinyl. It has one mark on Side 2 and a few very light marks on both sides. The blue and white Blue Note label is exceptionally bright, the colours are completely unworn and the text is immaculate. There is a small name and tax label on Side 2. There is only the very slightest spindle wear and a few faint spider marks.
The sound quality is Very Good+. The heavy vinyl lies completely flat on the turntable and when played it is a pleasure throughout. Exceptionally rich and vibrant, the kind of quality that only exists on these original presses. There is light background noise, particularly in quiet moments, but it still has superb audio separation and clarity.
The heavy card sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. The blue is vivid, the white is crisp, the black is solid and the image is perfect. There is light corner wear and a little discolouration on the back, otherwise it is exceptionally solid and bright. The spine is firm with clear, sharp text.
