Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
A super rare Sample copy of Sonny Rollins - Way Out West released in 1958 on the yellow Contemporary Vogue label. Side 1 has a sticker on the label "SAMPLE RECORD - Not For Sale". See photos.
The record has been Degritter cleaned and the vinyl has come up spotlessly clean with a good sheen. There are two large scuffs visible on Side 1, a few tiny marks and a small patch/blemish that can only be seen in strong daylight. One tiny scuff on S2. No feelable damage and nothing that affects playback. We have graded VG+ but it plays more like EX.
The vinyl plays through beautifully with clear and vibrant mono sound. This is detailed, fresh and really engaging - amazing for a 64 year old record!
The outer laminate sleeve is still solid and clean, print colours lovely & vibrant. Good readable spine. There are areas of laminate to both front and back near the opening but no splits, writing, tape or tears.
Original heavyweight poly lined sleeve present & still doing a great job.
A rare opportunity to own a sample copy of this classic album owned by Stan Tracey.
We have taken lots of photos in good natural daylight so you can see exactly what you are buying. Please take a moment to look at the photos as they form part of the description. We are pleased to answer any questions you may have.
Selling many other jazz vinyl rarities on separate listings including other items from The Stan Tracey Collection. Much more to be listed over the coming weeks so why not add us to your favourite sellers?
International buyers... Are welcome from most parts of the world. We will only send via International Tracked and Signed and charge a flat rate of £20. Be aware there may be additional taxes and charges imposed by Ebay - please do your research before buying!
