((((  VINTAGE  U.S. BLUES  )))))
HAVE A LOOK AT THOSE PHOTOS!! HINTS AT HOW CLEAN THIS HARD TO FIND BLUES RECORD REALLY IS. INCLUDES SONNY TERRY'S "Goodbye, Leadbelly" - 14- killa tracks in all!!
RIVERSIDE 12-644 pressing; This is a (MONO); with cool guitar accompaniment by ALEC STEWART. Sonny breathes the blues here on every track--in and out---moanin', talkin' as he plays, rambling to anyone willing to listen to loss and defeat- yep, most about loss of women.... as authentic as you can get on this recorded in December 1953, while the record dates to 1957.
Plays with one flaw on both sides: A SLIGHT WARPED Trail in EDGE ONLY!! this-pressing flaw- that affects Track ONE sides 1 & 2 causing my stylus to ride up and down, with slt distortion for a few grooves before it passes- and by the way, this LP plays NEAR MINT all the way through! Bold, signature sound of a vintage mono Riverside pressing--really sharp, clear, moving playback here--don't settle for anything less on this iconic Blues date--yeah I hear some out there: "Hey, this is available in CD and play great and cheaper!"  ((Ain't nothing is going to compare to the analog playback on this KILLA' Blue pressing from 1957! You want the truest sound of Sonny? The this is your LP!!!-
MY PLAY-GRADE Personal NOTES::
A super nice, super clean record here, lots of gloss and seems little handled and little played LP; 7- killer tracks.; If you can live with the flaws on the BEGINNING of track One side one and two, then you've got a blue lp for a lifetime here---remember, it is not just Sonny playing the harp, he's talking, moaning, howling, grunting, WHOOPIN' ,,,, playing locomotive train sounds, howling 'daags' sounds all on his HARP--- rambling as he goes really a killer LP here if you are not familiar with it!! Man, you can feel this man's lament, pain, and ironic humor....love it.

VINYL: VG++ (would be near mint if not for the flaw noted on track one, see my notes above) NO OTHER FLAWS DUIRNG PLAY back other than what was described!!! - Plays very quiet in transitions, no pops, no tics,....quiet near mint like play--We are talkin' killa blues BY Sonny Terry....very, very, enjoyable indeed.

COVER: VG++ (arguably near mint--Super clean, and Super straight; glossy laminated front cover! readable spine label too!! Just stellar here!!!!---of course, great liner notes)

This rare December 1953 session of Sonny Terry in that with guitar accompanist by Alec Seward, who had previously recorded as Guitar Slim in a duo with "Fat Boy" Hayes" (aka Jelly Belly). Sonny Terry, locomotives his way through original material, including standards like "John Henry" and other blues tunes like "In the Evening". Terry’s trademark vocal and harmonica whoops, and hollers are in gear and running throughout the album, sometimes to exhilarating effect, as on the rapid "The Fox Chase (aka "Hound Dog Holler")." His lyrics get uncommonly specific on "Goodbye Leadbelly," a tribute to the then-recently deceased folk-blues legend, composed by "writer unknown." The recording engineer on the session was Jac Holzman who started Elektra records..,
