REMARKS: "Sophy was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and started her artistic career on “La Nueva Ola” television program produced by Tommy Muñiz.

By the end of the 1960’s Sophy moved to New York City where she worked with the legendary Tito Puente as a singer in his orchestra, broadcasting weekly on the radio “Tito Puente y su mundo latino” from Newark, New Jersey.

Puente released an album “Tito Puente presenta con orgullo.. Sophy”, featuring the talented Sophy and her hit song “La última palabra” (recorded in 1969). The song gave Sophy recognition in New York as well as Puerto Rico during the summer of 1970. In 1971 she released her second album: Te Reto under the Tico label. In 1972 her career took off after signing with the Velvet record label, releasing widely broadcast hit songs such as “Te apuesto”, “Los Reyes Magos” and “Será, será”.

But it was in 1973 that her album Yo soy mujer... y no soy una santa” helped establish her as the most popular female singer in Puerto Rico. The album was acclaimed in Puerto Rico with hit songs including “Locuras tengo de ti”, “Estoy sola”, “Muchacho malo”, “Perdón”, “Cuéntale a ella” and “Canción para una esposa triste” dominating the airwaves in Puerto Rico.

If for some reason you are not satisfied with my grading please contact me (813-472-9660 or via Email, Ebay) before leaving feedback to see if we can resolve. I do my best and often time under grade items to ensure satisfaction upon receipt; however, there is a possibility that something could slip by.

Grading Scale used is by Record (LP) Grading and is as followed:

Vinyl Grading:

Still Sealed (SS):  Sealed at factory and never opened. Disc is assumed to be undamaged and mint, but this cannot be proven until the album is actually opened and the disc examined.

Near Mint (NM):  This is highest grade assigned to opened, handled records. The vinyl is virtually flawless, bright and shiny. A very minor, barely visible scuff or two may be permitted, but no scratches. The disc should play with no audible noise. The label is bright, clean and unmarked.

Very Good Plus Plus (VG++):  Disc plays near perfectly, but may have minor paper scuffs that do not interfere with the sound quality. There can possibly be a hairline scratch or two but nothing that is obvious or affects play. Vinyl is bright and shiny; label is clean and unmarked.

Very Good Plus (VG+):  Some visible surface wear, very minor scratches and scuffs, but minimal impact on the sound quality. Vinyl will still have good luster; labels may have minor imperfections (small labels or initials, etc.) but otherwise clean.

Very Good (VG):  Vinyl will have noticeable scratches or scuffs that cause minor surface noise, but do not overpower the music. There will be no skips. Vinyl may appear somewhat dull and grayish. Labels may have small tears, tape marks, larger writing, etc. but still easily legible. There may be wear or deformation of the spindle hole. It Will Be Sold As Is

Good (G):  Well-played, dull, grayish vinyl with deeper scratches and wear causing distracting surface noise (hisses, pops, cracks and other nasties). The record will still play through without any skips. Labels may be significantly defaced or damaged.

Cover/Picture Sleeve Grading:

Still Sealed (SS):  Album is still in the factory-applied shrink-wrapping.

Mint (M):  Absolutely perfect; no corner dings, marks, tears, dents, impressions from the disc, or other flaws. Cover should appear as if a record has never been inside.

Near Mint (NM):  Very minor signs of wear or cover impressions. Artwork is as close to perfection as possible. If There Are Any Drill Hole, tyny SawCut or Diagonal Cut They Will Be fully Described!

Very Good Plus Plus (VG++):  Minor disc impression or slight corner creases, no wrinkles, puckers, seam splits or writing on the cover. Artwork is clean and unworn and there is no ink wear.

Very Good Plus (VG+):  Cover is clean but may have minor writing or marks and may show slight wear. There may be just the start of ring wear, where the disc has created a raised area on the cover that resulted in the ink wearing off the paper. There may be slight discoloration or staining, minor seam wear, but no splits or tears. Corners may have small creases or fraying.

Very Good (VG):  Covers are worn and used. Seams may be starting to split or may have been unobtrusively repaired with clear tape or clear glue. (There is moderate ringwear, but the artwork is still attractive. There may be yellowing or discoloration and there may be larger writing, labels, or marks. Corners may have damage or creases and there may be scratches or gouges that otherwise damage the artwork.

Good (G):  Several (but not all of the following flaws will apply: Seam splits, large marker writing, major seam splits, significant ring wear, damaged corners, tears, cuts, gouges, masking or duct tape seam repairs, or other flaws and damage. Again, probably only useful to fill a collection niche until something better can be found.

* We offer a money back + shipping costs guarantee on our records (unless otherwise noted) if you feel the LP was not graded properly (in Grading “disputes” Return Shipping Not Included). We will issue a full refund upon its return, once our mistake has been verified.

Record Grading: Standard guidelines for grading records comes down to a subjective judgment that may vary from person to person. We grade records and LP covers visually AND (when possible) play-tested. We make every effort to give full disclosure (remember that the LP has at least 12 tracks and the grading may vary between each other)  and your satisfaction is guaranteed. Don't assume that our vinyl determination of "Very Good+" is the same as yours!

RECORD OR COVER GRADED VG or LESS WILL BE "SOLD AS IS"

Items are to be paid within 7 days (if not paid by that time it will be subject for relisting) of auction close and will be shipped within 48 hours of receipt of payment. Paypal is the preferred method of payment.
