Folkways 1964 (FX 6143)


Record is in EXCELLENT visual condition - only very minimal light surface markings. Sleeve is EX+ - very close to NM grade. Has a small split to the top seam, at the corner (about 2" long). Otherwise the sleeve looks close to immaculate. Includes fold out insert (NM).


Nice original copy of this highly desirable 1964 Folkways Science Series LP, with unbelievable field recording of sounds from a Warren, Pennsylvania junkyard, recorded by Michael Siegel in 1964. Highlights include the sound of cutting apart an automoblie engine with an acetylene torch, loading empty fiber drums on a pick up truck, burning out a car, baling aluminum chips, etc.


This LP is perhaps best known for its inclusion in the classic 1981 Lester Bangs Village Voice essay, "A Reasonable guide to Horrible Noise", alongside A Taste of DNA, Metal Machine Music, etc.
