Description

Columbia AE 14

Artist: The Pathfinders (St Cyprian's Native School, Johannesburg)
Tracks: Ingonyama / Dubula Mfondini

Beautiful and very rare early vocal group singing harmonic tunes (as opposed to traditional chanting or shouting) in a style similar to the "double quartet" style, in the Xhosa language. These were likely recorded by Hugh Tracey on one of his first jobs for a record company, around 1933. Uncommon and historically important.

Condition: EE+ (few miniscule marks)

I will be selling a lot of amazing discs from around the world in the coming months. Please bookmark me and check back in.
