Vintage 1976 SPACE: 1999 ORIGINAL TV SOUNDTRACK BY BARRY GRAY
- Produced by Gerry & Slyvia Anderson, Space: 1999 (1975-1977) depicted the occupants of Moonbase Alpha and their struggle for survival when the Moon is hurtled into space after a catastrophic explosion. For the scoring, they turned to classically trained composer Barry Gray, best known for creating music for the Anderson’s previous series (Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, UFO) and one of the first to use electronic instruments in music for TV.
- This collection highlights his Gray's skill in creating dramatically evocative cues as well as extended suites full of emotion and nuance, perfectly highlighting the plight of the Alphans. Not that Gray was above coming up with lively rock music, which he did to memorable effect in the main theme.
- EXCELLENT vintage condition: vinyl is glossy without marks or scratches; inner sleeve is intact; LP cover has saw-cut in upper right corner, otherwise in pristine shape. Please review photos for complete details.
