Sorry about the poor state of the photo but the cover would not photograph without the shine on the laminate. But onto the music- what is on offer is Spectrum’s Part One- a fantastic and important slice of Australian progressive art rock.

A mesmerising 'spaced' atmosphere gives it a unique and special edge

and the brilliant loud mix (unlike many homegrown albums engineered by amateur technicians in substandard surroundings) keeps the light surface noise that all copies seem to have, way in the background

The Howard Gable production, with assistance from Roger Savage, Ernie Rose and Peter Andrew at Let It Be is probably the reason for the great sound, aside from the sterling work of musicians Mike Rudd, Lee Neale, Bill Putt and Mark Kennedy. The pedigree here includes Pink Finks, Party Machine, Sons Of The Vegetal Mother, Nineteen 87, Gallery, The Lost Souls etc

The record retains all of it’s original shine. There is a mark which seems to be in the vinyl on both sides of the trail- in deadwax and there is a slight sound until the vocals begin (which is pretty close to straightaway) Other than that – there’s one short light hairline that doesn’t sound. Maybe it’s EX-. Both labels have only the faintest of spindle traces.One tiny age spot.

There are no split seams and only mild creasing. The corners are tight. The laminated (front) cover has a mild age mark in the top left corner (see scan) while on the unlaminated (matt) back there are some moderate age marks- largely at the top. I’ll say it’s strong EX- and I think you’ll be happy.

CONDITION WISE:

MINT: Brand new condition, no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: Slight signs of having been played, no lessening of sound quality. Cover, label, extras are good.

VERY GOOD: played quite a few times, no real deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras slight amount of wear and tear.

GOOD: showing some wear and tear. Reasonable, playable sound. No major defects in record, cover, label, extras.

FAIR: Sound quality deteriorated. Cover, label, extras display folding, scuffing, marks.                                               .
