Description
"It's the SPIKE JONES SHOW, featuring SPIKE and his CITY SLICKERS, FRANCES LANGFORD, TONY ROMANO and from the movies WILLIAM FRAWLEY..."
And here's an original WAR & NAVY DEPARTMENT RADIO PROGRAM TRANSCRIPTION DISC for "THE SPIKE JONES SHOW", containing a complete 30-minute episode of the madcap musicians at their best. The show aired domestically as the "CHASE AND SANBORN PROGRAM" on the NBC Network on July 15, 1945 (a summer replacement series for the Charlie McCarthy Show). The disc is labeled "SPIKE JONES #7". The show was performed at the Army's Dibble General Hospital near Menlo Park, California.
WILLIAM FRAWLEY, the future FRED MERTZ on "I LOVE LUCY", is the guest on the show. A highlight is the City Slickers' performance of their parody of the Mills Brothers' "You Always Hurt the One You Love".

This is an original 16" WAR & NAVY DEPARTMENT disc, issued to AFRS radio stations and it's in a protective sleeve.
The disc is clean and uncracked; the recording is in very good condition.
See scans of the labels for both sides of the disc. There are a couple of quick skips near the very beginning of the show - otherwise, it's terrific. Minor surface wear.
