Spirogyra's finest moment, partly because of the material and partly because it features Barbara Gaskin's otherworldly vocals (which is what directed me to this band, being a fan of Hatfield & The North and National Health) more than their other albums. A unique, mysterious take on English folk. Not as earth-shattering as Comus' "First Utterance" but that album definitely feels like a relative when you ponder on slowly unfolding pieces like "An Everyday Consumption Song", "Parallel Lines Never Separate" and "In The Western World"
