SPOOKY TOOTH IT'S ALL ABOUT

A lovely condition, with gleaming vinyl and truly excellent audio quality, of this increasingly rare & sought after 1968 UK 1st press rock/psych classic on the pink ISLAND "orange circle/eyeball" record label, STEREO, ILPS 9080

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  ILP - ST - SC - A with "LL - DCT - 1"

Side 2    ILP - ST - SC -  ?B? B with "LL - DCT - 1"

The condition of the vinyl is excellent minus (EX-), though I am sure that many would grade as "excellent". Heavy, completely flat vinyl with glossy jet black sheen and coming across as virtually unmarked in normal daylight, and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that just a few small and very fine wispy hairlines along with the occasional very light paper scuff mark come into view...each non-feelable, certainly nothing below the surface, and all appearing to be purely superficial. Hard to believe that this vinyl is 53 years of age!    

The condition of the iconic pink Island and heavily textured "eyeball" labels is again excellent (EX) - unmarked apart from just a couple of extremely faint, and small, spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label.

The condition of the laminated (front and back) outer sleeve is again excellent minus (EX-) - iconic colouring and art work with firm edges including a rigid spine where all text remains perfectly intact. There is just some very light, intermittent and non-obvious scuffing on the reverse side of the bottom edge, minimal rubbing on the corners (which remain nicely defined right angles), some non-obvious vertical laminate lifting immediately next to the spine on the front side, and the occasional 1-2 cm non-intrusive surface laminate "crinkle" adjacent and perpendicular to each edge. There is also a 4mm "nick" right in the middle of the front side opening edge, each of which otherwise remain in great shape with no fraying at all. The colours, artwork, photos, and text all remain rich and vibrant. Wonderful!

Comes with poly-lined "PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS" inner sleeve with correct "British Patent No..." and "MADE IN ENGLAND" horizontal text and with no splits, tears, edge fraying, age discolouration (apart from a couple of brown spots on each side), or obvious creasing and remaining fully functional (note that I always house the vinyl inside a brand new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve for shipping purposes in order to protect the original);    

The stereo sound quality is excellent (EX). No sticks, jumps, repeats, skips, or interference and only the hint of some extremely mild background crackle during the dead wax run-in's and run-out's. There is the odd very light and background click (one towards the end of A2, for example) which occur randomly and for which close inspection under a bright light revealed no obvious cause...no doubt due to the odd speck of dust caught in the grooves through decades of storage. Every track makes for a great listen...what a brilliant "psych" album of the 60's this is!

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard mailer, along with extra protective flange edges, with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
