CHRIS DARROW Chris Darrow/Under My Own Disguise Box Set (2009 US 22-track double LP/CD box set - a fantasticset compiling reissues of the incredibly rare Chris Darrow solo albums - 1973's eponymous release and 1974's
Under My Own Disguise. Bothalbums are presented in individual gatefold picture sleeves - faithfully reproducing the original
artwork - which also include the album on CD. Also included in this wonderful set is a 48-page colour booklet, filled with studio
photos of theartist. The set is housed in a brilliant 12" square display box, which shows some light signs of wear; however,
the contents are superb).
A founder member of the fabled Kaleidoscope, this versatile multi-instrumentalist left the band in 1968 to join the Nitty Gritty
Dirt Band. Chris Darrow also helped form the Corvettes, an underrated country rock group who later backed Linda Ronstadt on
a tour to promote her Hand Sown ... Home Grown album. Darrow then began a solo career with Artist Proof, and also found
employment as a studio musician. He contributed to releases by John Stewart, John Fahey and others, as well as appearing
on several Tamla/Motown Records sessions. A second album, Chris Darrow, reaffirmed his eclectic nature and featured
cameos by Dolly Collins and Alan Stivell. The equally well-crafted Under My Own Disguise followed in 1974. USA Elektra Label 12" Vinyl 4-LP Box inkl. Special 20-page booklet (Tracklisting siehe unten)
