Description
This is a fine original U.S. pressing copy of the rare sole LP by LA psych group St. John Green, released in 1968. The record was co-produced by scenester/con man Kim Fowley and West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band founding member Michael Lloyd, and per an interesting blurb on the Wikipedia page about the group, it is part of a realization of Fowley's myth-cum-tourist-bureau-pitch about Topanga Canyon's back-to-nature "Canyon People." The song "Canyon Women," credited to Fowley but basically a goofy rewrite of Nina Simone's "See Line Woman," is the most obvious manifestation of this on the LP. (The third volume in the Highs in the Mid Sixties series has a radio interview with Fowley -- pronounced, appropriately enough, "folly" -- on the topic.) The jacket has two flaws of note, a cutout hole and creasing in three corners (which is substantial, though mostly invisible, in one), along with light ring, corner, and edge wear -- overall EX(-). The disc is clean with a little light scuffing, and plays like new -- M(-).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
