ST. LOUIS UNION: East Side Story/Think about me (Decca F 12508, TURKEY 1966)
A Manchester mod-group with three singles out on Decca. They charted with their debut 45 “Girl” (a Beatles cover), but their follow-ups are much more rewarded by U.K. freakbeat collectors out there. Here we have their last 45 that couples a storming soulful version of Bob Seeger’s “East Side Story” with the freakbeater “Think about me”. “East Side Story” has been comped several times, but surprisingly not the (in my view) superior flipside! Never knew this got a release in Turkey, but the proof is here!
