Description
THE STAN TRACEY QUARTET - JAZZ SUITE
Inspired by Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood
1965 UK Colombia 33SX 1774 Mono
This is the original first UK mono pressing with black and turquoise labels and the old style EMI logo on the front laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover, not the stereo all black label pressing which has a different catalogue number. Matrices are "XAX 2866 - 1U" and "XAX 2867 - 2U" with "1" "R" and "1""A" stampers respectively.
The quartet is Stan Tracey(p) with Bobby Wellins (ts), Jeff Clyne (b) and Jack Dougan (d).
RECORD - VG++ The record has lost some of its lustre and the vinyl looks a bit hazy under strong light with some very fine and light sleeve type scuffs and some pressing bumps apparent. There is a more noticeable half inch surface hairline on side two and four hairlines of varying length (1" to 3") on side one . Plays with some background crackle and I heard three pops over the whole record.
LABELS - EX Spindle marks. Otherwise clean.
COVER - EX Solid seams and spine. The laminate has shrunk back from the front opening edge and the edges of the back foldover flaps where the laminate residue has attracted some dust/grubbiness. There is a nick (less than 1cm x 1cm) on the back top foldover flap. Slight age discoloration on back and some creasing on the front laminate. Includes original poly-lined inner with "EX" in biro on the top left corner (of the inner).
GRADING SCALE: NM/EX/VG/G(+/-) Visual grading - not play tested unless specifically indicated above. NM is near mint not mint - I do not use M except for an unplayed record.
