Description
Up for auction is a nice copy of the Stanley Turrentine album "Up At Minton's, Vol. 1" released on Blue Note Records (BST 84069) in 1961. This is an original stereo pressing, not a cheap stereo rechannel from mono. 47 W. 63rd NYC on both labels. RVG stamped in the run-off groove. Cover is in fantastic shape, front laminate is high gloss shiny, no ring wear or rubbing loss. Seams are strong, no splits, no chipping, no cracking. The white parts show no signs of age yellowing or discoloration. Upper left corner slightly bumped. Back is super clean, bone white, no ring wear, no writing. 43 W. 61st Street address at bottom. I'd grade the cover Near Mint (NM). The vinyl is nice and shiny, retaining its original glossy surface. A few very light, superficial hairlines that cannot be felt. Some superficial signs of having been taken out of paper inner sleeve. Generally, the vinyl looks clean. I've play tested this copy, and it generally plays bright and clean. Both sides open with some very mild surface noise, but it fades into the background once the music starts. In no significant way does the background sounds compete or detract from the music. Not audiophile clean, but certainly a nice sounding playing copy. Very enjoyable listening. Great live session. I'd grade the vinyl EX (Excellent).
