Description

Item for auction is a RARE Columbia Records promotional Lew DeWitt solo recording from the mid-1960's on Columbia Records, no. 4-44160, "She Went A Little Bit Farther" b/w "Brown Eyes". Lew autographed the record on the label above his name after his concert in Luray, Virginia on Oct. 13, 1984. The record is in Mint condition, Lew signed his name over where a label was removed, also side 2 also has a place on the label where a sticker was removed. Also enclosed will be a photocopy of the letter(index card) Lew wrote to me stating that "I don't even have a copy of my record "She Went A Little Bit Farther" and that he "would be happy to autograph it", also the letter states that "I am completely well again and have gone back to work with my own combo and I'm considering re(c)ording offers now". Also enclosed will be a photocopy of a Myrtle Beach newspaper article "Former Statler Brother Wants To Return Solo" from November 22, 1985. Article about Lew Dewitt recording again, with Lew's comment "I don't think they need me now and I don't think I need them" referring to the Statler Brothers. Lew talks about Jimmy Fortune, his health, medical bills, etc.
