Description
For fans of Steely Dan, here is the Holy Grail. A very rare find. The first release by Steely Dan in June 1972 on Probe Records (PRO 562) featuring "Dallas" and "Sail The Waterway", neither of which ever appeared on a Steely Dan full length album. (Both songs were released on a June 1978 12" promo record however.) The song "Dallas" was considered to be the first single from their debut record "Can't Buy A Thrill" (released January 1973) but it was pulled after getting no real reaction from radio stations or critics, and the feeling according to Jeff Baxter quoted in the Brian Sweet book "Reelin In The Years", that the song sounded too country rock which was not the impression they wanted. Will include copies of the pages referencing "Dallas" in the book.
The record is in VG+ condition. Some light surface noise, but no skips or issues. Some writing in marker on "Dallas" label side. The sleeve is an original ABC-Dunhill sleeve from that era and is in very good condition. (Probe Records was a sub-label for ABC Records until it went defunct in 1974.) Email if you have questions.
