Catalogue-PCS 3042

An early copy circa 1963. This is the 3rd (second state) pressing without ''Recording First Published'', and without the small ''33 1/3'' after yex 94 and yex 95, ''Parlophone Co Ltd'' rim text. MT tax code.
MATRIX YEX 94-1 YEX 95-1. Large Stereo sleeve, made by Ernest J Day, wiuth Emitex inner sleeve.
?Stampers 1G 1P

?Currently housed in a plastic sleeve that has ''A polythene cover is provided FREE OF CHARGE with every Long Playing record purchased from Nems Ltd''. The NEMS sleeve you usually see with this record from this period, is the one with Red text this just has the text, small in black on one edge. I am not sure if this NEMS sleeve is consistent in age with this record and is possibly from a few years later maybe, ive not seen one before so cant be sure. Either way its a nice thing to finish of this iconic item.

Record Grade

?Visually certainly not the greatest copy i have ever seen . There are some surafce marks noticed on both sides, various light areas of wear and marks, some slightly heavier looking, there is a mark that runs edge to centre that is broad at points but mercifully can only just be felt at points (this visually being the worst mark noticed), there are some other hairlines and surface scuffs throughout, but all seem to be more moderate with a couple just being feelable at points. Some spindle marks noticed but the spindle holes dont seem to have a great deal of wear, (white paper exposing etc). Floating around the Good visual grading mark.

Now for the better news, I have listened to this record thoughout and I was extremly suprised at how well it played through, there were no noticeable skips or jumps, with some occasional pops and very light ticks just noticed but nothing sustained, for any long length of time, or high in the mix on playback mainly noticed in run ins and outs between tracks etc. There is some very light surface back ground crackle in places again during quiet, less busy areas of the tracks, run ins outs etc. When the tracks are playing there was very little audible issue noticed. It was very clear with no major distractions, any surface noise that may have been heard in the run ins to some of the track were barely noticed if at all when the track was in full flow. The audio on the whole was very clear and bright and would grade a mid EXCELLENT as a grade for the audio on the whole. I have had much much better looking records play much worse than this, which was a lovely suprise in this instance. A professional clean would certainly help enhance the audio further.

Sleeve Grade
?An Excellent example of this sleeve, the front is nice and clean some minor handling wear and light marks just noticed, some light edge creases just noticed but very solid and well presented. The edges have very little wear, some minor rubbing and corner rounding, minor bumps to the corners, nice sharp opening edge, an extremely fresh example, the spine text is well presented full legible and well presented. The back cover again Excellent? the flipbacks are nicely preserved, some light corner wear and minor edge issues around the flip backs, with some moderate staining to the top edge etc, one corner slightly lifted, the central white panel is very clean with only minor toning and a couple of minimal slight stains, very light ring wear just showing, but on the whole a very nice example of a sleeve that very rare survives well.

?Inner sleeve plain white EMITEX, Excellent, some light marks, minimal toning but a solid EX.

?NEMS plastic sleeve is in Good condition, quite thin plastic, lots of creases and minor wear but no splits or loss, some toning and minor marks with some light edge and corner nibbles.
