Stone The Crows 'Ode To John Law' 1970 UK original vinyl on the Polydor red label, catalogue number 2425-042 (stereo)
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side A: 2425042 Av1 1 1 6 (there is also an incorrect catalogue number deleted) Side B: 2425042 Bv1 1 1 3
This is a heavy vinyl, it has very slight edge movement in play (just a little above the norm) but this has no affect at all - it tracks and plays perfectly well. Both sides of the record appear to be in almost as new condition - it does not look as if it has been played very often. On inspection under a bright light I can see just two visible light surface scratches on side A across track 1, that do not sound in play. On Side B I can just about see two wispy scratches, they do not sound in play. The audio is brilliantly clean and clear all the way through and in my opinion there is no lessening of the audio quality from new. There are no sticks, no skips, no jumps.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. There is a black tint inside the ridged area near the spindle hole where the paper has thinned in the original pressing process, but there is no writing, no damage, and both labels remain excellent.
The cover is a gatefold type, it is not coated or laminated. Apart from minor signs of surface rub wear, a few tiny creases and mini scuffs to the tips of the edges, it is almost as new. The centre piece is also in near new condition, with just four small scuffs close to each corner.
The spine is also not far from new condition. It is in first rate shape, with just a few tiny scuffs and the smallest amount of rub wear on the end tips. It remains clearly and completely readable.
The inner sleeve is the original, it is a Polydor standard - poly-lined, fully intact, no seam splits.
I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say that the gatefold cover is a very strong 'excellent' or possibly better, the vinyl is visually also on the plus side of 'excellent' and the audio is definitely 'excellent+'
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a strong record mailing box with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
