Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. - Flashback: Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and The Band draw 600,000 to Watkins Glen Summer Jam in July 1973
Four years after Woodstock concert, Watkins Glen "Summer Jam" set a longstanding Guinness World Record for music-festival attendance.
This "rarities" album has always been very hard to find and is the original pressing with color cover highlighting the festival with previously performed and unreleased versions of classic tunes by grade-A level bands in rock history.
- On July 28th, 1973, a mere four years after Woodstock, a concert at the same upstate New York racetrack featuring only the Allman Brothers, the Band, and the Grateful Dead drew an estimated 600,000 people — enough to earn it the Guinness World Record for the most attendees at a pop music festival. By comparison, Woodstock attracted a minuscule 250,000 people, according to the New York Daily News, though legend has it that the fest drew up to 400,000.
Tickets to the concert cost $10 and included parking and — even though it was a one-day event — camping, according to posters on Syracuse.com. By the afternoon before the day of the concert, the promoters had sold 125,000 tickets, making it a “sell out.” Since Summer Jam was already a success, the organizers left the gates open, allowing the other 400,000-plus people to saunter in freely. The crowds were enough to paralyze the small town of 2,700 people at the time, yet somehow there were no reports of violence. Some of the attendees left their cars as far away as 20 miles from the venue.
- The gig ended at three in the morning, and much of the audience had exited by the time it was done.
- This is the very rare full color cover and considered to be the very first of such underground Lp's released with a color cover.
