On offer here is a 4-track self-released 12 from SUN RA & HIS ARKESTRA. Presented in a front-stickered plain sleeve (see pic).
Matrices (etched): 10-4-80 A / 12-4-80 B
Track listing: Side 1: 1. Aurora Borealis 2. Omniscience / Side 2: 1. Preude In C#Minor 2. Quiet Ecstasy
The plain, stickered, die-cut sleeve is in EX- (Excellent Minus) condition. No real problems but note a corner dent to the top front left, some (very) soft shelf rubs and a very light ring impression mainly to the front. NO nicks to the die cut hole, no picking of the Sun Ra sticker, no splits, rips or writing. Please note the UK distributor’s sticker is placed on the front, top right.
The vivid, orange labels are fine with only ONE not conspicuous spindle trail to each side. B-side label is placed slightly off-center and there is a touch of ruffling to the label edges, probably as issued.
The vinyl is heavy - at a guess, around 160g, maybe more. It has not seen much use. Side 1 looks near mint with no marks of note, while there is a little surface ‘shading’ on Side 2 – not affecting play but noticeable all the same. I’d suppose the overall visual grade would come in at minimum EX (Excellent). NO scratches, hairlines or scrapes. Looks fine. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and other than a hint of static and the occasional soft tick (only 1 or 2), plays exemplary with very little noise for such a quiet recording. Certainly no snap, crackle, clicks, pops, hiss, distortion or loss of clarity/groove wear. A very clean, enjoyable listen.
A rare original US Saturn independent release.
No reserve.
