Sunrise.
Original UK pressed white label test pressing housed in plain sleeve with typed A&M sticker to top corner.
The sticker is dated 13th June 1972, but no date has been filled in next to "tentative UK release date".
The run offs/dead wax feature the catalogue number SAM 100 and A1/B1 matrix suffixes.
I can find nothing out about this band at all, and this does appear to never have been commercially released. The SAM catalogue number is a bit of a mystery, and certainly not one I recognise from the A&M issues of the period.
This is a strong effort, and certainly no throwaway LP, so why it doesn't appear to have been issued is a bit of a mystery. Music perhaps best described as Folk Rock leaning towards Prog Rock. Some nice and strong vocals, and some nice incisive blues/rock guitar parts. Certainly somewhere in the Fairport and Trees etc. scheme of things.
There is one clue to work with. I acquired this as part of a small collecton of white labels and acetates. Many of these are by Paul Travis. He was the mainstay of Travis, who were a 1970's Prog Rock band. (Paul Travis then recorded a solo album under his own name before forming Liar.) The 1973 LP Travis was not only released on A&M Records, but also features a track called "Flagstone Path".
So there is a possibility that this Sunrise release is perhaps an earlier incarnation of Travis, or somehow connected.
Vinyl in VG condition. Just a very few light spider trail marks visible at centre spindle areas. Surfaces still have a good gloss, although do display a few hairline marks and scuffs, many of which are more immediately visible. There are no deep scratches or digs.
Playback is very acceptably clean. I use VG in the strictest sense, and not to describe an LP which suffers from serious background noise. The recorded sound is really bright and punchy still. Playback does display the occasional low to mid-level tick, but there are no loud and consecutive ticks. The surfaces are basically quiet still, and there are hardly any instances of underlying crackle. Still provides a very pleasing listening experience, and while the occasional soft tick is noticeable, background noise never really detracts seriously from listening pleasure. The surfaces do also have a little dustiness/handling residue, which I have not attempted to clean, so there can only be room for further improvement.
Labels are clean and unmarked both sides, with just vestiges of handling smudging. There are no penned or stamped marks.
Note that photos were taken outdoors, which has resulted in some patination from reflections appearing to the vinyl surface.
Plain white card outer sleeve is broadly clean and without seam splits, although with some noticeable ringwear darkening to both front and rear. This is quite noticeable to the sticker at top.

A Note On Grading:Note that audio grading is subjective and based on sensitivity of equipment used for playback. In this instance playback has been tested on a vintage Technics Quartz Direct Drive SL1700 MKII turntable with Shure cartridge, Technics SU-C 03 amp and Technics SB-F2 Linear Phase speakers.
Also note that I generally do not clean vinyl unless so noted. Most vinyl will show improved playback quality with your preferred cleaning method, but I leave this to the prospective buyer, as controversy still surrounds the ideal method of cleaning vinyl.
