Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXREMELY RARE '60s ARTIFACT
ISSUED IN ONLY JAMAICA
The WALIERS
The Wailing WAILERS
\ JAMAICA - "STUDIO" - S1001
VERY RARE, what might be a 2nd SIXTIES pressing that was only issued in JAMAICA ...be =certain for one thing, this album is plenty rare and over 45 years old ... The very first Bob Marley platter.
This original lineup features Junior Braithwaite on vocals, Bob Marley on guitar, Peter Tosh on keyboard, Neville Livingston (a.k.a. Bunny Wailer) on drums
When a teenaged Bob Marley began recording in 1963 with The Wailing Wailers, Reggae did not exist yet. Back then Kingston Town, Jamaica was bubbling over with the jump-up-and-down energy of Ska, slowly maturing into the deliberate beats of Rocksteady.
The common thread binding these genres to Reggae is that unmistakable guitar chop on the upbeat, denoted by perhaps my favorite musical term: the 'skank'. There is simply no better example of a culture internalizing external influences and making it their own than when Jamaican artists took the shuffle of American Rhythm & Blues, turned the beat on its head, and came up with Ska!
The influence of all that soul and R&B being broadcast from America to radios in Jamaica cannot be overstated. With so much blood and death on the road to racial equality in the United States, it is often forgotten just how much progress has been made; but for Jamaicans in the 60s to see and hear American artists who shared their African heritage become successful, famous, have their talents recognized, and also just seemed to be having a lot of fun...it was hopeful and inspiring to see. A young Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, and Peter Tosh, growing up in the Trenchtown housing projects (or as they called it "the government yard"), began to dream of a better life achieved by honing their artistic talents and vocal abilities.
Jamaicans began making their own R&B-inspired recordings, with aspiring producers cranking out new 45s and dub platees at a rate that outpaced even Motown. Jamaican sound system culture was such that a group could cut a dub plate in the morning, set up some speakers on the street, and have people dancing to their own songs by sundown.

"Wailing Wailers" is considered the best Wailers recordings from the mid '60s. It is not a studio album in the conventional sense but was the first full length LP released of the band's work.
