Description
NO RESERVE! I think I may have just discovered the Holy Grail of album covers in an old record collection! The controversial 'Toilet Seat' cover from the Mamas & Papas first album in 1966. NOTE: There is NO VINYL RECORD OR SLEEVE (ALBUM ONLY).
Found it wrapped in beige cardboard between some albums I got from a farm auction a few weeks ago. I'm a big music fan but not an expert, however from my layman research on the internet, it appears to be the ORIGINAL BANNED COVER. Both the front and back cover are in remarkable shape. It's owner obviously took good care of it over the years. There is however some obvious wear around the edges of the album & although the spine is still legible it is showing it's age (see photos). If you'd like additional pictures from other angles, let me know.
This album is NOT to be confused with a re-issue of "If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears" by Sundaze Records back in 2010. This is a Dunhill DS-5006 STEREO version and according to the back cover "exclusively distributed by ABC Paramount Records."
Anyway, I'm not quite sure what it is I have so I'm just going to put this up for auction (NO RESERVE) and see what happens. Again, there is NO vinyl record inside (wish I had it), this auction is for the ORIGINAL BANNED COVER ONLY. If someone out there has any info to the contrary, please let me know.
