Vinyl? Splendid! record grading:
M = Mint - Brand new as you would buy from a retailer
NM = Near Mint - In near new condition - maybe missing shrink wrap and the odd finger print
EX = Excellent - May have slight sleeve creasing. Record may have minor marks such as very light hairlines/ scuffs which do not affect play.
VG+ = Very Good Plus - Sleeve may have moderate creasing, light edgewear and/ or very minor ring wear. Inner sleeve may have a minor split. Record may have light scratches or scuffs that have a slight effect on playback such as light crackle in the quiet parts and isolated ticks, but nothing which would significantly detract from the audio experience.
VG = Very Good - Sleeve will have moderate creasing, edgewear and ring wear but will be intact. The inner sleeve may be damaged. The record will have moderate scratches, groove wear and scuffing which will affect audio quality. Crackle may be evident during the music but still give a satisfactory listen. There will be some ticks and the odd pop but no jumps or sticks.
G+ = Good Plus - the worst grade I would sell. The sleeve will have bends, creases, edgewear and ring wear. The sleeve may have a repaired tear but still be intact. The original inner sleeve may be damaged or missing. The record will show signs of moderate wear including prominent scuffs and scratches. Audio will be less than ideal and will include crackle and ticks throughout with possible jumps or sticks. In a nutshell, a starter copy that you'd probably want to upgrade in the future.
I audio grade in most cases, where I will try a few tracks (concentrating on any scratches etc) to give my honest opinion. Obviously I can't audio grade every record fully but the grading should still be true as an overall picture of the record.
I will note any obvious defects in addition to the grading.
All records I sell will be cleaned using a five stage process on a wet/ dry record cleaning machine and come in a clear sleeve. If the record comes with a card inner, I will add a new archival inner. If the original inner is split, I will add a new archival inner. I use new card cruciform mailers with packers - either card or extra records of low value.
