Here is a SUPER RARE vintage original record from my collection offered up for sale: An original 1965 1st pressing of "THEM" featuring Van Morrison! This a vintage 1965 MONO 1st pressing has the heavy vinyl and parrot logo and black labels. Released on Parrot records PA-61005 (mono). The story is when this their debut album was released "Here comes the night" was expected to be a hit record for "Them" and was released as a single in 1965. The first cover was hence printed with a cover with "Featuring "Here comes the night". As it turned out, Radio DJ's were playing the B side "Gloria" day & night! "Gloria" shot up the charts and the presses were halted! The covers were then changes to scream "Gloria" in large letters instead of the "Here comes the night" blurb! Here is possibly a sole surviving original pressing with the "Here comes the night" front cover still in original factory shrinkwrap with a MEGA RARE sticker which reads "featuring THE ORIGINAL HIT GLORIA". The factory workers must have been told to slap these "GLORIA" stickers on as "Gloria" took off in the charts! How many GLORIA STICKERS have survived the 50 years since it's release???
This heavy weight record rates EX, is super clean and glossy, only a few very light marks to an otherwise pristine disc, looks minimally played, has been very well cared for! PLAY TESTED, plays from start to finish with excellent sound, minimal surface noise, no skips, no jumps! The vinyl has the acclaimed mastering stamp "circle MR" & Bell Sound in the deadwax, cool! The cover rates EX, is clean and bright, the original factory shrinkwrap is still attached on all three sides and shrink was taped to the inner record sleeve (probably back in 1965!) at the opening edges. The edges and corners excellent, no splits, binder edge is NM and readable, no signatures or writing, no ringwear, back cover has about 1/3 section of shrink missing, clean & bright rear cover, has been very well cared for! (see all pictures). Still has the vintage printed London inner sleeve in nice shape! BID NOW, there is no reserve price. OR Own it now with my fair BUY IT NOW price!
