This wonderful piece of kit from the highly renowned SONY CORPORATION is FAR MORE than just a high quality ‘Reel to Reel’ stereo tape recorder – IT’S A COMPLETE STAND ALONE SYSTEM WITH A HIGH QUALITY CASSETTE DECK AS WELL AS THE REEL TO REEL ASPECT plus it has it’s own in-built amplifier and detachable speakers which conveniently clip on to the unit and form the lid.  (The machine CAN of course, also be ‘hooked up’ to a stereo/hi-fi system in the normal way.

This particular machine has just been serviced by one of the UK’s leading ‘reel to reel’ specialists, Geoff Kremmer of Servicesound (see www.servicesound.com) and he has provided me with a six months warranty which IS transferable to the successful bidder, so please bid with total confidence.  The heads on both the ‘Reel to Reel’ function and the cassette deck are in outstanding condition with no sign of any wear and tear and all controls and switches operate quietly, smoothly and exactly as they were designed to.

The reel-to-reel tape recorder is a 3-SPEED (1 7/8, 3 ¾ and 7 ½ ips), 4-TRACK, 2 CHANNEL, STEREO machine which accepts spools up to 7 inches.  The sound quality achieved when using the fastest recording speed and good quality tape is absolutely stunning, and in my opinion puts to shame the cold, harsh, clinical sounds available from today’s digital components.

There are separate BASS and TREBLE controls for use when the internal amp and speakers are activated and inputs allow additional hifi components such as a record deck or radio to also be played through this system.  (As previously stated this wonderful piece of equipment can also be ‘hooked up’ to your existing stereo/hi-fi system using conventional ‘phono leads’)

Cosmetically, this fine machine is in very good condition with only a few minor marks and blemishes to give away its vintage.  ALL KNOBS, DIALS AND SWITCHES ARE IN TACT AND OPERATING QUIETLY, EFFECTIVELY AND EXACTLY AS THEY WERE DESIGNED TO.  Being a SONY product this machine is of course, EXCEPTIONALLY WELL ENGINEERED and everyone who comes to my home admires it, not only for its fantastic ‘retro’ styling and appearance, but also for its sound quality, which is truly sensational.

You will see from the final picture below (which shows some of the machines that I have in daily use) that I am a serious collector of high quality reel-to-reel machines, and I can say from experience that the build quality and sound quality of this machine is right up there with the best of ‘high end’ domestic machines.  FURTHERMORE, ‘COMBINATION’ MACHINES LIKE THIS (WHICH INCLUDE ‘REEL-TO-REEL’ AND CASSETTE) ARE EXTREMELY RARE (I HAVE NEVER COME ACROSS ONE OF THESE BEFORE) AND TO FIND ONE IN THIS CONDITION COMPLETE WITH A PROFESSIONAL 6 MONTH WARRANTY MUST BE ALMOST A ‘ONE OFF’!

Included in the sale are the two spools shown in the photo.  One is filled with 1800ft of blank, high quality, magnetic recording tape and the other is the matching ‘take-up’ spool.  IN ADDITION, I WILL INCLUDE TWO FURTHER 7 inch SPOOLS OF GOOD QUALITY, BLANK RECORDING TAPE.

The winning bidder is very welcome to collect the machine from my home if that is convenient and delivery may be possible within certain areas as I am often out and about on business.  Alternatively, the Tape Recorder will be very securely packed and sent by reliable courier with adequate insurance.
