Description
This is a very hard to find surf 45 by The Alleykats (aka The Alley Kats): "Skate Board" b/w "Ye, Ye" on Hall of Fame records (HOF 418). Not sure when this record was released, but very likely in 1964. Both songs produced by Robert Hafner. The A side is written by Hafner, and the B side is written by Dorinda Morgan, husband of Hite Morgan. The Morgans owned a recording studio, which is where the Beach Boys cut their first few songs (including "Surfin'" and "Surfin' Safari").
The Alley Kats (here listed as The Alleykats) also released a single on the Impact label, "Barbie" b/w "Lollipops" (Impact 31) which is also highly collectible. The band was first known as The Dimension, and then the New Dimension. When they started adding vocals to their act, they became The Alley Kats. Shortly after the band broke up, founding members Michael Lloyd and Jimmy Greenspoon would form The Rogues. Lloyd and Greenspoon would then later form The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band and Three Dog Night, respectively.
This record was produced by Robert Hafner, who also produced the surf band The Revels among other acts.
Record is in strong VG to VG+ condition. Some label stains, but no writing, stickers, or tears. Vinyl has high gloss, but some light scuffing. This is the only copy of this record I've ever seen, and I've found nothing written about it. The band's other single, on the Impact label, is a bit more common.
