BE A MAN / Little Things Like That - DJ PROMO (RCA VICTOR 8726) This Spectorian 1965 'Wall Of Sound' production is the first of three releases that Miss Wallis would have on the RCA Victor label. Joe Reisman produced and the talented David Gates arranged all three. The A-side starts out powerfully right from the start with bass, piano and shaking sleighbells and then the thundering drums kick in, propelling this dense two minute and twenty-two second record into the stratusphere. WRECKING CREW sax player, Steve Douglas gives one fantastic honking sax solo. Susy Wallis is surprisingly a white girl but gives a convincing, soulful and effective girl group performance. The B-side is a stunning production that should have been issued as a separate release as the A-side. It is pure, dreamy girl-pop bliss. (It was included as a track on the 1997 ACE CD release entitled, 'Where The Girls Are...') Background vocals were handled brilliantly on both sides by the BLOSSOMS. The labels of this disc are free from marks with the exception of a small 'x' in blue ink on the A-side. The vinyl is a clean and shiny, scratch-free VG++.
