Our special, varied collection of Film & TV Soundtrack Recordings and Cast Recording LPs has been well-preserved with vinyl that is mostly in Near Mint or Mint condition. Stored in a non-smoking environment, we have in stock a wonderful sampling of memorable stage, film and TV productions! We indicate catalog number, release year, Stereo or Mono, Double LPs or Boxed Sets, unique and rare Promotional, Demo cut, Sample or Special DJ copies, Gatefolds (always pictured), Sealed or Un-played, original company sleeves, and we cite and identify special inserts, booklets and other press materials. Some were actually used at radio stations KNBR and KFRC here in the San Francisco Bay Area and those specific markings and notations are either pictured or noted in our descriptions. We like the extra added historical import of records that were handled in this manner, and we hope you do as well! All our records are original pressings unless otherwise noted. SWEET CHARITY Original Broadway Cast Albums & DJ Promo Press Kit (Columbia 6500, DJ17, DJ17-1966). Here we have an EXTRAORDINARY and UNIQUE musical theater collectible! We are thrilled to offer up this wonderful musical package including three LPs, its 20-page black & white Insight magazine program, all the original packaging (press folio, sleeves) and the wonderfully intriguing press materials for DJs including a COVER LETTER from Columbia Records about performance rights (in NEAR MINT CONDITION), the ONE-HOUR RADIO STATION DJ SCRIPT PRESENTATION (two-page Table of Contents + 4 pp of text) and the HALF-HOUR RADIO STATION DJ SCRIPT PRESENTATION (one-page Table of Contents + 2 pp of text). The musical’s Mono WLP is in VERY GOOD+ CONDITION (light surface wear and one faint scratch, otherwise NICE). The two copies of Opening Night at the Palace Recorded Expressly for Your “Sweet Charity” Programming are both in VERY GOOD+ CONDITION (very light surface wear, one faint scratch). Please refer to the photos for more specific programming information, but suffice to say, how interesting is it to listen to exclusive interviews with members of the cast and creative team, including GWEN VERDON, NEIL SIMON, LENA HORNE, BURT BACHARACH, ETHEL MERMAN, CY COLEMAN and DOROTHY FIELDS. The scripts have historical import and are both in NEAR MINT condition (no rips or tears whatsoever) and they were provided to the DJs to narrate (as dictated by the time cues) as the album was played in its entirety e.g. the lead-in to the show’s biggest hit “Big Spender:” The Fan-Dango Ballroom, where Charity works, is in the heart of Times Square. There, we meet her fellow taxi lancers, who sing of fun, laughs and good times each given her BIG SPENDER:” This is how the DJs actually described the musical. We believe that it says it perfectly: “The musical tells a tale of today, a story about a lovable but gullible dance-hall hostess (brilliantly played by Gwen Verdon) who wants to be loved. She finds romance in the form of a steady, willing-to-forget-the-past boyfriend. He’s a warm-hearted guy, but he gets ice-cold feet in the final clinch. Well-wishing co-workers remind Charity that they “told her so. “ But faith—and love—spring eternal in Sweet Charity’s great big heart.”
