Description
Excellent condition copy of this rare 1959 release on Decca Records (SXL 2134) with its original Wide Band and Grooved label design with "Original Recording By...." rim text (ED 1)
Jean Martinon conducts the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra in a programme of Berlioz Overtures comprising :-
1 : Le Carnaval Romain, Op. 9
2 : Benvenuto Cellini, Op. 23
3 : Hungarian March from La Damnation de Faust, Op. 24
4 : Beatrice et Benedict.
5 : Le Corsaire, Op. 21
Condition is excellent. The sleeve is not perfect as there is a small (1.5cm) split at the bottom right hand edge and there are some very minor nicks on the spine. The unlaminated area of the rear sleeve is a little grubby and there is very minor laminate damage on the front sleeve along the opening edge.
The playing surfaces are in near mint condition with no scratches, scuffs or abrasions. Playback is excellent with only very light surface noise and no pops, clicks or crackles. The sound is of truly audiophile quality.
