Description

Excellent condition copy of this rare 1959 release on Decca Records (SXL 2134) with its original Wide Band & Grooved label design with "Original Recording By..." rim text (ED1) Jean Martinon conducts the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra in a programme of Berlioz orchestral music comprising :- (1) Overture : "Le Carnaval Romain," Op. 9 (2) Overture : "Benvenuto Cellini," Op. 23 (3) Hungarian March from "La Damnation de Faust," Op. 24 (4) Overture : Beatrice et Benedict" (5) Overture : "Le Corsaire," Op. 21.

Condition is excellent. The sleeve is clean and crisp with no significant tears, no seam splits and hardly any shelf wear. The only slight problem is a number of little chips along the spine and some slight creasing and wear of the corners. The unlaminated part of the rear sleeve is very slightly discoloured.

The vinyl is in excellent condition with no scratches, scuffs or abrasions. Playback is unaffected by any ticks, clicks or crackles; surface noise is low and there is no noticeable distortion and no jumps or skips. Sound quality is exceptional with cleanly extended frequency extremes and wonderful instrumental separation.
