Description
Widely sought after Wideband Groove Decca SXL series recording. SXL-2281 / SXL-2281 Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana feautring Giuletta Simionato, Mario del Monaco, and Cornell MacNeil conducted by Tullio Serafin.
Both records are VG+ Anything described below is designed to provide you with the utmost descriptiveness - please note that I have carefully inspected and listened to every note on these records and the only even lightly audible noise I heard was periodically in the first 30 seconds of side 1 and even this was extremely light and admissible. But since everyone has different ears and a different setup the best I can do is detail as follows:
Side 1 : There is one scuff mark on the beginning of side 1 which creates an extremely light but nonetheless audible sound periodically over the first 30 seconds. Then there is a light paper mark which has no effect on the sound, and in the very last few grooves there is a tiny little mark that likewise does nothing to the sound.
Side 2 : has 2 longish but very very faint marks which do not effect play whatsoever.
Side 3 : One thin faint mark going from the edge towards the label. One tiny mark 3/4 of the way into the record. Neither have audible effect.
Side 4 : has one long mark (going nearly all the way from the label to the edge) that is very faint. Two similar but much short marks going out from the label on a different part also with no noise. One small scuff 1/2 inch long and wide with no audible effect.
Box : The box is VG+ Very strong and intact. There is a slight bubbling to the laminate which occurs at the bottom of the front of the box and again by the the last few letters of the title at the top center of the box (about two inches long 1 inch high) and then again in a ripple by the top left corner of the front. There is bubbling on the back (black) part of the box about 3-4 inches tall and 2 and 1/2 inches wide. There is light wear to the corners of the box, and on one of the corners the black has worn to gray about 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide.
Booklets : Two booklets, one NM one VG+ both very clean and tight. One of them is lightly bumped in one area of the cover and also has a creasemark on the bottom right corner that last two pages
If you would like to hear a sample of the one audible crackle please let me know and I can send it your way. Please contact me with any further questions.
