SYD BARRETT LP "THE MADCAP LAUGHS" ORIGINAL HARVEST RECORDS# SHVL-765 Stereo. This Original UK release is featured here in excellent condition for your listening pleasure.

On offer here is a VERY rare LP (especially in this condition!!!!) by Syd Barrett called "The Madcap Laughs" and is an ORIGINAL 1969 UK 1st Pressing on the 1st Press Harvest label!!!!  THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!!  THIS WAS SYD BARRETT'S FIRST & RAREST LP EVER (STRAIGHT AFTER LEAVING PINK FLOYD!), AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!!!  JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!!  BACK IN 1969 WHEN THIS LP WAS RELEASED, IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!!!  AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE TODAY!!!!  BUT WHAT MAKES THIS LP REALLY SPECIAL - IS THAT IT IS THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSING EVER MADE!!!!  AND THIS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ON THIS LP!!!!  ONLY AROUND 500 COPIES WERE EVER MADE LIKE THIS - AND ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO ALL LATER COPIES!!!!  HERE ARE THE AMAZING DIFFERENCES BELOW:-

1) THIS LP HAS 1ST PRESS 2G/2G MOTHER & STAMPER CODINGS (THE SECOND CODINGS EVER USED!) - WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS THIS LP WAS ONE OF THE FIRST 500 COPIES EVER MADE - AND QUITE LITERALLY THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSING YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET, ON THE VERY FIRST DAY OF PRESSING WAY BEFORE THE RELEASE DATE!!!!  

2) THE TEXT 'SYD BARRETT' ARE SET LOW DOWN ON EACH LABEL (LATER ONES WERENT!)

3) ON THE SIDE 2 LABEL IT SAYS UNDER THE TRACK LISTING "(BARRETT EXCEPT + JOYCE)" - WHEREAS ON ALL LATER PRESSINGS IT SAYS '(BARRETT + JOYCE)' INSTEAD!!!!

4) ON EACH LABEL - THERE IS NO GAP AT THE BOTTOM BETWEEN 'LUPUS MUSIC LTD' AND 'PRODUCED BY....' - WHEREAS ON ALL LATER COPIES THERE IS!!!!

SO THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT AT ALL - THAT THIS IS THE ONE OF THE 'EARLIEST' & RAREST 1ST PRESSING OF THIS INCREDIBLE LP THAT YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET - WITH SOME AMAZING DIFFERENCES THAT ALL LATER COPIES SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE!!!! 

NOT ONLY THAT BUT THIS LP IS IN BRILLIANT CONDITION AND CLEARLY HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!!  JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!!  THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1969 UK 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSING ON THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS HARVEST LABEL, 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS NO 'EMI BOX' ON THE LABELS (LATER ONES DO!), 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS 'GRAMOPHONE COMPANY' LABEL EDGE TEXT, AN EARLY 1ST PRESS 2G/2G MOTHER & STAMPER CODINGS AND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LABELS, 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS INNER SLEEVE, AND 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESS 'E.J.DAY' GATEFOLD LAMINATED COVER!!!!  THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!!!  This is the ORIGINAL Harvest UK 1st Pressing from 1969 and is in BRILLIANT condition!!!!  The record is pressed on THICK quality vinyl.  The Cat. No is SHVL 765 on the ORIGINAL Harvest label (see picture) and is a UK Stereo 1st Pressing (there were NO Monos!)!!!!

The record labels are in SUPERB condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing, and only a VERY few light spindle marks!!!!  IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THIS RECORD HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!!  The vinyl is in BRILLIANT condition!!!!  Most of these 60s LPs had been to a lot of wild parties and are usually found totally worn out, and almost unplayable. This one is NOT and has NO scratches, only 1 MEGA light hairline, only 1 NON sounding light scuffline, and only a VERY few of the lightest paper scuffs only visible under light!!!!  THE RECORD STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK AND SHINES LIKE NEW!!!!  It is also great to find that the record plays as STUNNINGLY as the visual with NO nasty loud pops, NO sticking, NO jumps, barely ANY crackle AT ALL, and only some VERY slight background sound on the run on grooves & gaps - NOT in the music AT ALL!!!!  The sound quality is simply SUPERB with NO distortion and NO groovewear either!!!!  The record must grade Very Good++NM- if not better!!!!  BRILLIANT RECORD!!!!  Believe me this record is NOT overgraded in ANY way!! The record also comes in its ORIGINAL 1st Press inner sleeve which is in BRILLIANT condition!!!!  The ORIGINAL 1st Press 'E.J.Day' Gatefold Laminated Cover is in BRILLIANT condition!!!!  It has LIGHT edge wear, NO spinal wear, only VERY slight corner wear (NOT through the colour!), possible very VERY minor evidence of 'tipping in' to the EXTREME corner tips ONLY, only a few VERY light creases (cover is VERY flat looking!), STICKER REMOVED small spot, VERY shiny laminate, and NO writing!!!!  The opening edges are beautifully straight with NO feathering!!!!  Even the unlaminated inside of the cover is in BRILLIANT condition with NO grubbyness, NO yellowing, NO ringwear, NO rubbing, and NO writing!!!!  The cover must grade Very Good+ if not better!!!!  BRILLIANT COVER!!!!  THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS (ESPECIALLY AS THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSING EVER MADE!) - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY!

The Glossy Gatefold Cover shows light wear and looks fine. Grade..VG+..No Splits... Excellent Shape!

Grading Scale:

M  Mint - usually reserved for sealed records.

NM Near Mint with only one or two insignificant defects.

VG++ (or NM-) Extremely nice, would be NM except for a few light hairline scratches or scuffs which do not affect play.

VG+ A nice but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It may play with a few pops or ticks but no serious problems.

VG A well used record that still sounds OK but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc. 

VG- A very worn record that plays through without skipping that will do until a better copy comes along!
