SYD BARRETT SOLO DEBUT ALBUM " THE MADCAP LAUGHS"
EXTREMELY RARE HARVEST FIRST PRESSING, COMPLETE WITH THE VERY RARE FIRST EVER PRESSING LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE.
HARVEST SHVL 765. IN STEREO.
RELEASED IN 1970.
Very First Pressing Matrix Numbers Side1: SHVL 765 A 2G and Side2: 765 B 2G, no other markings.

The Record is in very good condition. The Labels are excellent, original Harvest label without the EMI logo, which later releases would have. The Labels are very firstpressing Harvest with THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD printed around the perimeter of the labels and MADE IN GT. BRITAIN on the base of the label. Both Labels are clean and show only light signs of spindle marking and there is no wear to the centre holes.
The record plays very well, some light detectable background noise when played, reasonably quiet between the tracks, slight noise to start of run ins where needle has dropped, as is quite common on records that have been played, some light background on the very quietest parts, overall it plays very well.
The Vinyl surface is very good, clean with an excellent sheen, wonderful thick late 60's very early 70's very thick Harvest vinyl, There are some very light feint surface marks on both sides which are clearly visible under bright light, there are no deep surface marks or scratches, and the record plays through very well on both sides!. Overall record is quite excellent for age.
The Gatefold Sleeve is in excellent condition, thick card gatefold sleeve with a Full Laminate Outer Finish Sleeve, Very clean sleeve, No surface marks or aging marks, No nasty grubby marks or unwanted writing or stickers, No tear marks or splits on the sleeve. Virtually free from edge and corner wear, the extreme opening edges are relativelly sharp. Some very light surface creasing through opening and handling, but No nasty creases, light outline of record on rear of cover, No tears to the edges, No writing, stickers or rips. The spine is quite thick and rigid, light surface wear to top and base, but most important, all of the text is intact. The Inner Gatefold is in excellent condition, no marks or unwanted writing. Original Sleeve printed and made by E.J. Day London.
Record comes complete with the Original Poly-lined Harvest Paper Inner Sleeve which promotes the Harvest Range of Albums. This is in very good condition, slightly tinted with age and original glue staining, but the poly lining is still intact,
An extremely Rare Harvest Record, and no doubt getting harder to find in decent condition, !!
