Description

SYD BARRETT The Madcap Laughs UK  Harvest SVHL765, 1970

UK 1st Issue Early pressing, see  http://www.pinkfloydarchives.com/DUKLPSB.htm#SBML1  for more info.

Vinyl LP in outer laminated gatefold sleeve. No EMI logo on labels. 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd....' text around the edge of the label. 

Only original early pressing labels have apparently the following:

1.Side 2 label has credits 'Barrett except + Joyce'. Later pressings have 'Barrett + Joyce'.

2. Green/yellow Harvest Label with no 'EMI' Logo and 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd.' at 11 o'clock on the outer rim.

3. SYD BARRETT' appears just above the 'HARVEST' logo at 9 o'clock. Later pressings move this higher up the label.

4. On each label side there is no gap between 'Lupus Music Ltd' and 'Produced by...' Later labels have a gap.


 The inner sleeve is generic and fairly worn. The from cover has a mark resulting from removal of price sticker, and inner gatefold has owners initials and date (see pictures).

 The disc has some light surface scratches but plays very well

The back cover shows printing/publishing date of 6911 (November 1969). The album was not released till early 1970.

Matrix shows:- 

Side 1; SHVL 765 A-2G with the figure 1 at 3 o'clock and the letter A at 9 o'clock; 

Side 2; SHVL 765 B-2G with the figure 1 at 3 o'clock and the letter A at 9 o’clock.
