If you have read this far you almost certainly know what a superb piece of music this is and how ground-breaking it was when it was first heard. Jazz/Classical fusion can often fall between two stalls and end up far less than the sum of its parts. This piece of music - written and conducted by the hugely successful composer of music for Cinema, TV and Theatre, Laurie Johnson - blends the two types of music absolutely beautifully!
And what's more it showcases the supreme talents of some of Britain's greatest exponents of Jazz, including the late lamented Tubby Hayes soloing on both Tenor Sax and Flute!
Having established this album as being one hell of a cracker, I'll attempt to describe its condition.
OUTER SLEEVE: Front, near mint, all edges and spine undamaged, square and solid. There is a tiny dink to the bottom right and some barely discernable laminate creasing which was probably present when the cover was first made. There is the original price code sticker on the cover which I have not attempted to remove; if it was on there from the start, why take it off?
Rear, near mint being clean and bright and showing only very minor grubbiness along the edges of the flip-back where the laminate falls just short.
INNER EMI PRINTED SLEEVE: Near mint. No issues at all.
LABELS: Near mint, I can see no sign at all of spindle marks, and certainly no other damage.
VINYL- VISUAL: EX+++/Mint-. Brilliant sheen, no nasty scuffs or scratches, some whispy lines under a strong light.
VINYL - AUDIO: EX++. Superb sounding audio! Some light background crackle on lead in and the odd occasional static noise. I've played this disc twice and the static reduced on second playing. I don't think this has been played more than a handful of times and I often find that a disc of this age and having had relatively little use will improve markedly with playing on a good deck with a good cartridge. There is one tiny flaw in the pressing, part way through the 'Adagio' movement on Side 1 which causes a couple of light 'ticks', but apart from that, the vinyl plays superbly with all channels strong and clear with no distortion.
A rare and collectable piece of vinyl.
I am listing this disc with a higher than usual starting price. It's a real 'grower' and the more I play it, the less inclined I am to sell it. I have decided that if it doesn't realise somewhere near its true worth, it will stay in my collection.
PLEASE NOTE: GRADING VINYL IS A TRICKY BUSINESS AND OFTEN VERY SUBJECTIVE. I CAN ONLY GRADE A RECORD AS I SEE AND HEAR IT, USING MY EXPERIENCE AND JUDGMENT GAINED OVER THE YEARS THAT I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING AND ENJOYING VINYL. I MAKE MY FINAL GRADINGS, AS NEAR AS I CAN, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACKNOWLEDGED STANDARD FOR RECORD COLLECTORS: 'THE RECORD COLLECTOR, RARE RECORD PRICE GUIDE'.
I WILL ALWAYS STATE IF I HAVE TEST-PLAYED A RECORD THAT I PUT UP FOR AUCTION. OTHERWISE IT WILL BE A VISUAL GRADING ONLY. PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND WHEN CONSIDERING A BID.
I VALUE MY 100% FEEDBACK VERY HIGHLY. I ALWAYS LEAVE APPROPRIATE FEEDBACK FOR BUYERS BEFORE I DESPATCH THE DISC AND WOULD APPRECIATE POSITIVE FEEDBACK IN RETURN. ON RECEIPT OF THE DISC, IF THE AUCTION WINNER DISAGREES WITH MY DESCRIPTION, OR HAS ANY OTHER COMPLAINT, PLEASE EMAIL ME. I OFFER A NO-QUIBBLES MONEY BACK GUARANTEE ON SAFE RETURN OF THE DISC TO ME IN THE CONDITION IT WAS SENT OUT. SO BID WITH CONFIDENCE.
IF BIDDING FROM OVERSEAS PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR POST AND PACKING PRICES.
