This early synth-prog oddity is a delight to listen to, rhythmic and labyrinthine. The mix of electronics and acoustic instrumentation, Arp, Moog, various percussion instruments and saxophone, produces an archaic magical sound, you could imagine this being some kind of ritual music for an ancient agrarian society.
The rhythms on Long Lost Relatives are very quaint, puttering along like rickety steam barges, the lack of bass makes them sound buoyant. The synths are by turns buzzing with otherworldly frisson and quaint eeriness.
