1973 Gramofon Verket EFG-7341 EFG 7341 A / EFG 7341 B Vinyl VG side 1 is VG+ moving through VG++ all the way through - side 2 is VG (-) for the more detaileed reasons described below. You are bidding on an original copy of one of the best pure euro-latin rare jazz combinations ever.
You're looking at this, you probably already know exactly what it is. One of the most sampled LPs of all time, it's stuffed with some of the best percussion breaks ever recorded, backed by upright bass and great occasional horns solos.
Notes on the condition: Most of the album is visually clean and although there are patches of light groove crackle, possibly caused by playing while dusty, there isn't any stylus wear to the main sound, however there is a deep scuff across side two that keeps on repeating as a click, I've provided an example of it in the second audio sample above;
The sound samples are 1) as good as it gets, 2) as bad as it gets and 3) an example of how I can clean up the audio - just showing off really... but the winner can have a copy of the restoration on CD or DVD-Audio (winner only I said!).
For my own opinion, this LP is one that a discerning DJ might like to add to their box because the tracks that 'matter' to a DJ play fine. It's when you want to listen to the quiet bits (especially on side 2) that you need to look elsewhere.
I am being very honest about this as I do not anyone to be disappointed. If you play the big tracks out you will love it. The sound is so much fatter than the reissue. Where this original pressing really scores is in the 'depth' of the sound quality.
You probably know about the Pure records re-issue from the 90's, you probably own one, and it's OK but when you hear this pressing you instantly hear what you've been missing; real depth to the bass, real presence to the midrange and atmosphere that simply kills. Not to mention certain small edits that are not there on the reissue!
OK so the choice is yours. Keep looking for a better copy (it will be expensive) or take this one knowing it's got some clicks. Check the sound samples and decide whether to bid.
**This record has been cleaned professionally on a VPi HW-17F wet-solution/vacuum record cleaner. LP in new soft-lined anti-static inner sleeve.
