FOLK MUSIC OF THE UNITED STATES ALABAMA SACRED HARP SINGERS - Sacred Harp Singing Recorded by Alan Lomax and George Pullen Jackson Library Of Congress (cat# AAFS L11) Original 1959 LP Pressing On Red Vinyl
This is a very interesting record entitled Sacred Harp Singing - Folk Music Of The United States. It was recorded in August 1942 in Alabama by Alan Lomax & George Pullen Jackson and edited for release by Jackson. The recordings were originally released on 5 78 RPM records & are compiled for the 1st time in the correct order on this 1959 LP released by the Library Of Congress (cat # AAFS L11). Overall, the cover is structurally sound - it suffers from light corner wear, a minor corner bend (top of the spine) and a name written in ballpoint on the front. The vinyl looks nice and does not appear to have any scratches under a bright light (it is harder to tell with colored vinyl.) The letterpressed insert is intact but it is yellowing, has some edge wear & has begun to separate at at the top and bottom of the fold between pages 2 & 3 - it should be handled delicately. This a very nice piece of traditional American folk music from Alabama. Please have a look at the photos!!
