Looking for the best ever SANTANA COPY?...well, you might well have just found it...
An original 1st press of THIRD on the UK CBS label from 1971. Matrix A1/B1 - very 1st cut. So, how can we be sure we're dealing with an early 1st press? It's quite straightforward using base-logic. None of the tracks have the track times listed! Then, there's no publishing date quoted ..you will notice that 'p1971' appears on all copies from this point onward. Also, look at track 1 on side 2 and note how the publishing credit is quoted as 'Dandelion' - all later copies after 1st issue are credited to 'Keith Prowse'. So, you are definitely dealing with a very early 1st press - most likely from the 1st week of release. The vinyl comes housed in an original Gatefold cover printed by Shorewood - note the gold sticker on the front. Also included is the original CBS advertising inner sleeve from the time too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+/NM) Wow! What a slab of vinyl and looks to have only seen very light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of superficial marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. NEVER have I heard THIRD sound this darn good. It is absolutely unbelievable. You can pick out every last beat, every yelp in the background, every whistle! The clarity is absolutely top-draw...for any copy I've heard.. let alone this release. I'll do my usual catch-all...expect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. But for all intents and purposes...FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Quite often a total pain to find even in half decent condition. This example certainly bucks the trend. Lovely clean front and rear with vivid bold colours and no signs of the almost obligatory surface wear that you often find on this title. The sticker on the front is pretty much perfect - no wear showing and it's not curling up or anything like that either. The interior looks great no issues at all. Edge wear  very light for this title and the openings still sharpish. The spine is pretty much entirely intact with barely any wear at all - this is really unusual. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner (Ex) No splits or markings. Perhaps, just lightest ageing.
