Description
Family's first, and only single on the Liberty label, before they switched to Reprise. 'Scene through the eye of a lens', c/w 'Gypsy Woman'. is a Psychedelic master piece. This single captures the time perfectly. Written by Roger Chapman and John 'Charlie' Whitney who together wrote some amazing songs. (Check out Family's first album, 'Music in a Doll's House')
I was lucky to see Family many times and to meet the band in the late 60s and early 70s. Chapman always gave a very powerful performance (and still does). Although never making it big, Family were a band who earned a lot of respect, and rightly so.
The single plays well on both sides. There are no serious scratches on the vinyl, which is still bright.There is a small scuff mark on side two, but this does not affect how the single sounds. On both sides of the label is written the word 'Sam', probably the first owner. It looks like it may have been written in pen, but this is faded now. The bag is fine with no tears. I've had this single since the mid 80s, I think I've played it once or twice.
I won't bother putting together a lot of hype about this record, it's not needed. This is a very rare record,and a great opportunity to own a piece of British psychedelic rock history.
