Description
Original 1967 Czechoslovakia pressed Supraphon scarce issue of the 1966 Prague Jazz festival. Great jazz-vocal album, featuring: Karel Ruzicka, Johnny Dankworth, Steve Race, Tony Carr, Gerd Dudek, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Rune Gustaffson, also featuring a line up of a Swedish Septet with Arne Domnerus, The Paul Bley Trio, John Dankworth Quintet with the amazing jazz vocals of Cleo Laine, the Manfred Schoof Quintet (with Gerd Dudek playing his best solo ever on record), Jean-Luc Ponty with Pierre Favre and others plus a group led by Carmell Jones on trumpet, with a Czech rhythm section. This album has no fillers, every track is deadly up to the minute modal jazz (with the Dankworths being the obvious exception, whilst still good but different) and it must have been a hell of a festival. Irresistible for every jazz-collector, very recommended, very hard to find!
