redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This handsome LP from Deutsche Grammophon (LPEM 19124, German pressing, AH tulip label, mono) features Wolfgang Schneiderhan's sublime renditions of Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor Op. 26 and Mendelssohn's Violon Concerto in E minor Op. 64.
The former was set down during 28-30 April 1952 with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ferdinand Leitner, while the latter was made during 19-23 September 1956 with the Berlin RSO and conductor Ferenc Fricsay.
Both are brought off with tremendous elan, and one senses a great personality behind the bow. The sound throughout is of DG's finest analog quality – a truly wonderful disc.
It should be noted that these are the only commerical recordings Schneiderhan ever made of the Bruch and Mendelssohn Concerti.
The reverse side of the jacket carries insightful liner notes (uncredited) in German, English, French, and Spanish. The lovely cover art is similarly uncredited.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD-. There is a 1” crack (not a true split) to the upper edge, as well as general edgewear (more so at corners), discoloration and aging. However, the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, still a decent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
