ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Rare in virtually any pressing is Carl Schuricht's legendary account of Bruckner's Symphony No. 9 in D minor here in its very first mono pressing (dowel spine) – a superb collector's copy – from La Voix de son Maitre (FALP 744, French Pathé-Marconi pressing, red/white semi-circle label, mono). The orchestra is the Vienna Philharmonic and Schuricht uses the 1894 edition.
Recorded in the fabled acoustics of the Musikvereinsaal on 20-22 November 1961, this towering performane remains a landmark in the Bruckner discography and one of Schuricht's very finest achievements on disc. The VPO play magnificently for him, with a glorious refulgence and deeply burnished tone that is simply breathtaking. Moreover, they are afforded richly glowing sound, rich and sonorous.

Bruckner: Symphony No. 9 in d minor (1894)
I Feierlich, Misterioso (25:34)
II Scherzo. Bewegt, lebhaft – Trio. Schnell (10:27)
III Adagio. Langsam, feierlich (20:16)
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of "baguette" jacket is EXCELLENT. There is bumping/wear at corners and some evidence of shelfwear, as well as a discreet 1 1/2" seamsplit to the upper-right corner. However, there are no other seamsplits, nor are there any bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the dowel spine is EXCELLENT. There is a small seamsplit to the left side of the inner sleeve, but the dowel remains firmly attached and the lettering to the spine is perfectly legible.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not CD silent, in general the playback is superb. If you must have a flawless copy, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
