- Often referred to as Denmark's answer to the Beatles, Danish rock band Gasolin' are widely regarded as the nation's most popular band to date. Established in 1969 by Kim Larsen, Franz Beckerlee, and Wili Jonsson, Gasolin' started with English-language material such as "Silky Sally," "Child of the Institution," and "Johnny the Jackpot," released in 1970. Lacking the success and acceptance they'd hoped for, the bandmembers began recording music in their native language and experienced an immediate turnaround in their popularity. Released in 1971, the band's self-titled debut was very well received. With subsequent records such as Gasolin' 2 and Gasolin' 3, among others, the band quickly became Denmark's best-selling pop group, dominating national radio and playing Denmark's most important venues.
- Throughout the '70s, Gasolin' attempted to crack the international market, re-releasing albums in English and playing clubs throughout the U.K. Despite winning an iconic reputation on its home soil, the band's inability to conquer the English-language market caused tension and stress among its members, who ultimately broke up in the early '80s. Frontman Kim Larsen began a successful solo career in 1984 with his debut record, Midt Om Natten, one of Denmark's best-selling albums of all time. Gasolin' collections and compilations began with Supermix in 1980 and have continued all the way up through 2003's Black Box box set and 2009's Masser af Succes. The Gasolin' story was documented in the award-winning film Gasolin'-4-Ever, directed by Anders Ostergaard, whipping up renewed interest in the group's history and music.
FINE PRINT
- All pictures are of the exact item being sold.
- This record came from a record store called "Phantasmagoria" which was located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Phantasmagoria went out of business in 1978. I purchased most of their leftover inventory some years later when I owned a new & used record store in Catasauqua called "Music Madness".
- Phantasmagoria used round colored stickers to indicate the price of the albums. They had a sign on the wall with the color sticker combinations for the customers to use so they knew the price of the albums. Most of the albums still have these stickers on them, and in some rare cases, the stickers are written on. Some of the records have prices on them. This is the price you would have paid for the record in 1978 if you would have bought it at Phantasmagoria. Please don't confuse these prices with their current value.
- Your item(s) will be shipped within two business days after I receive your payment.
- I always leave feedback before your item ships. Please consider leaving feedback for me after you have had a chance to inspect and enjoy this record.
- Please avoid questions on the last day of the auction. I might not have enough time to give you an answer before the auction ends.
- Payment by PayPal is preferred. Other payment methods can be discussed. Local pick-ups will require cash at the time of pick-up.
- Almost all album reviews, credits and artist biographies are from All Music Guide. If you haven't been to their web site, you should check it out. It's one of the most comprehensive music references on the internet. In some cases, the above credits may include reissue (CD) information. Obviously any credits referenced to CDs do not apply to these album releases.
- All sealed albums are being sold as collector's items and cannot be returned due to manufacturer's defects. It may be almost impossible to replace many of the sealed albums that I am selling.
- NOTE ABOUT NON-PAYMENT: Unless previous arrangements are made with me, on the 7th day an auction is not paid for, I will submit an unpaid item request to eBay, and start sending daily reminder notices. If I do not get any replies from the winning bidder by the tenth day, the bidder will be blocked from bidding on any more of my auctions. On the 14th day I will cancel the auction and let eBay deal with the bidder at that time.
I DO NOT END ANY OF MY AUCTIONS EARLY. PLEASE DON'T ASK (unless you are willing to offer enough to pay off my mortgage).
IT IS NOT MY INTENTION TO MAKE A PROFIT ON THE POSTAGE. ANY ACCIDENTAL OVERCHARGE GREATER THAN $1 WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOU. (I've been know to refund less than $1 overcharges too.)

- Foreign buyers must pay with US dollars through PayPal only. Please do not send cash - it's too risky.
