PARLIAMENT "Motor Booty Affair" Picture Disc
Sealed 1978 Vinyl LP
- You are bidding on one sealed copy of the Parliament stereo vinyl Picture Disc LP "Motor Booty Affair," released in 1978. This is an original release and a cut-out, with a top right corner cut. Produced and Conceived by George Clinton for Thang, Inc.
- The LP is sealed, uninspected, and assumed to be in MINT condition; there is no evidence that the disc is warped. (See grading legend below). The jacket is considered Near Mint; aside from the cut-out corner cut, there is no damage to the jacket. The shrinkwrap is torn in a few places but generally intact. The actual item is pictured below.

By this point Parliament was one of the most accomplished and intelligent bands in music. With albums like Mothership Connection and The Clones of Dr. Funkenstein, George Clinton's druggy and patently eccentric humor often obscured the enviable musicianship throughout. Motor Booty Affair is no doubt another classic album and the perfect follow-up to 1977's Funkentelechy Vs. the Placebo Syndrome. On Motor Booty Affair, Clinton decides to yuck it up more with a great underwater concept and a few of his stronger alter egos, including the rhythmically challenged Sir Nose D' Void of Funk and his friend Rumpofsteelskin. The deft and airy "Mr. Wiggles" has Clinton taking on the persona of Wiggles, the "DJ of the affair" as he says: "Mr. Wiggles here on roller skates and a yo-yo/Acting a fool." The hypnotic "Rumpofsteelskin" has a great bassline and inventive and infectious background vocals. The closest thing to a ballad here is the astrologically savvy "(You're a Fish and I'm A) Water Sign." The well-produced "Aqua Boogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)" with its handclaps and high-pitched basslines basically set the standards for the sound of R&B in the coming decade. The sleeper of the album, "One of Those Funky Things," is filled with timbales, congas, and Bernie Worrell's great synth signatures. The last track, "Deep," has great, understated riffs from the Horny Horns. Although many Parliament efforts can't be fully appreciated unless the whole catalogue is nearby, Motor Booty Affair stands on its own merits and sustains the laugh throughout. - © 1978 Thang, Inc., ? 1978 Casablanca Record and Film Works, Inc., Casablanca Records NBPIX 7125. - NM = Near mint, or unplayed condition. Cover is near perfect, new looking, with no surface or ring wear.
- EX = Only slight signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks which do not distract significantly from the sound. Cover has only slight surface wear and is still in nice collectible condition.
- VG+ = Evidence of play, with moderate surface wear and some minor noise - still plays well. Cover is solid with no breaks but may have minor surface wear or some ring wear.
- VG = Overall wear, but no skips or serious defects. May be somewhat noisy during quiet passages. Cover is worn, with considerable ring wear, and may have partially broken edges.
- VG- = Playable, but both the record and cover are well worn.
- G or G+ = Poor or Rough condition. Holefiller only!
