Description

Up for your consideration is one set of seven (7) Seeburg Background Music Library records which were used in the Seeburg Background Music System from approximately 1959 through the early 1980's.

These records have a place in use date of December 26, 1972.

The box for this set contains 7 Industrial format records and are labeled as follows, along with condition:

IND-103 Side a, small scuff about 1 centimeter in (see photo)

IND-107 Side a appears to have some wear towards the end of record, otherwise, looks clean.

IND-111 Nice and clean.

IND-115 Looks clean with a couple of small bruises

IND-119 Side a and b, a few tiny blisters (see photo close up)

IND-123 Side b has a small bruise, otherwise, looks clean

IND-127 Side a, scratch all the way around toward the end of record (see photo)

Also one record on one or two bands has a scraping sound (am not sure which one it was).

Records are 9 inches in diameter and have a center hole of approximately 2 inches in diameter. They play at a speed of 16 2/3 rpm. I made my own center adapter and played them only once on a pioneer turntable and they have not been used since.

These types of records were originally played in a Seeburg BMS player which was used in Grocery Stores, Department Stores, Motels, Factories, etc., to broadcast background music over the PA system. Seeburg put out three formats, Basic, Mood and Industrial.

Replacements were issued quarterly, and the subscriber of the service was to change out 5 discs based on the number on the record label and send back the discs that were removed from the machine. Failure to do so resulted in the subscriber being charged an additional 22 cents per month for each record not returned, according to the instructions on the box. Records, once returned, were never used again and presumably destroyed.

I will be listing numerous sets of these records over the next few weeks. Most of my collection is Seeburg but I also have a few odds and ends labeled, Rowe Customusic, a competitor of Seeburg.
